Unmotivating Workouts

Today I was working out to the 10 Minute Trainer Abs video & realized this is one workout set I just won't be doing again, for a while. It's the same workout I avoided when I was doing the P90X videos. There its called Ab Ripper X. What a name! Now I don't mind doing a crunch or 20...or 30... But they want me to do some crazy shoulder/back/arm/leg thing while working my abs, and I don't end up feeling my abs being worked. I feel more like my leg is going to give out or my arm is. Either way, I don't like the video.

I don't like finishing my workout on a bad note. It ends up leaving me less motivated to workout the next day. Cardio or Kempo Karate. Bring it! But I think I'll just skip the ab vid and just do a bunch of crunches. Besides, the Total Body & Yoga Flex workouts target abs too. And I don't need to get "ripped", I just need to be healthy people! ;)

Okay, that's it. I hope this helped you. If not, well just ignore me. Besides, (there's that word again) I'm not sure if I was trying to help anyone. Oh wait, yes I was.

Well, here's the moral of the story. If you're trying to do a workout that you despise and it makes you not want to go back to the gym or pop in that video, stop forcing yourself to do it....unless you're on Biggest Loser or something. Oh, and know it's about being healthy, not being a super model. That would require you having an eating disorder, which is the opposite of being healthy.

For real now. I'm done. And I'm hungry. Oh, and I'm trying to avoid carbs as much as possible. And sweets. Good luck to me!

Flying to Cali

So, as some of you know, I'm in California. I love it when I come back here & see people I never get to see anymore.
The flight here is always the most stressful though. I even told myself, after over 4 hrs of flying with a 7 & 2 yr old, I would NEVER fly again...which I know is just not true. I do it because it's worth it. Who cares that the guy behind me has to put the stroller, our shoes, carry-ons, baby seat, and blankets on the conveyor belt for me at security so I can hold Eden so she doesn't run off (like she did 3 times)! I love people like that guy! I've gotten the complete opposite before. A few years ago, a guy said some mean things under his breath about me after following me through security. I say, YOU try juggling a 2 year old and all this crap buddy! But oh well. I'm just thankful we had a nice guy willing to help me out this time. Especially since I was sweating profusely by the time I got through the metal detector.
After we got through, I found out our flight was being delayed by over an hour!! And. AND I had a connecting flight in Las Vegas which I was going to be late for. Thankfully, there was a miracle plane that was able to take us to LV on time! Whew.
On the flight, Eden was an angel. She and Trinity even made friends with some of the ladies while we waited in line for the restroom (Trin went 3 times during the flight). But that was one LONG flight & Eden didn't sleep one little bit the whole time. And thankfully we were surrounded by parents with little ones. So when one cried, we were all immune. You become immune to crying after baby #2. Did you know that? Also, the boy in front of us bawled really loudly for a few minutes at a time so Eden's little fits seemed like a breeze. Thank you little boy for making my little girl look good!
Finally when we landed in LV and after I put Eden in the stroller, she fell asleep. It was pretty easy after that. A 20 min flight and POOF! we were in So Cal staring at my mom & dad. What a sight to see after a long flight.
Okay, that was it. Uneventful? No. Boring? Well...ya kinda. Whatever.

I'm thankful (19-25)

Well, oops! I've been just a touch busy with getting my house ready for family & then spending time with them, I didn't have time to blog this week. Anyways, getting caught up now. :)

19. I'm thankful for the energy that P90X gives me. What a wonder that evil exercise program is!

20. I'm thankful for my best kuzin in the world! Angie pretty much rocks my sock!

21. I'm thankful for God's comfort & compassion! I have friends & acquaintances who've been hit with death this week. Just knowing God is holding them up, helping them survive, makes me feel a little better about it all.

22. I'm so thankful that my parents are able to be here this week. My dad hasn't seen his grand daughters in almost a year & he was really missing them!

23. I'm thankful for the new home God is providing for us. It's been a tough journey! It didn't start out looking like it was going to be this painful. But isn't that what life is all about? Learning through the tough times? Yup!

24. I'm thankful for the deal Matt was able to get on a fridge today! Our new home doesn't come with a fridge & we didn't want to go buy a new fridge because we have other things to spend money on. So Matt found one online. When he called the guy, the guy told him the low price was the wrong price. But he would sell it to Matt for that price if Matt was able to come get the fridge today. What a deal! A steal! WooHoo!!!

25. Well, thank You God for being our provider. Without you, we wouldn't have anything to be thankful for. We wouldn't have the food we're eating tomorrow. Not the clothes we wear, the home we have, or the wonderful people in our lives. So thank you God for all that You've provided! Thank You for being You!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

I'm Thankful...day 18

18. I'm thankful for the fire burning in my wood burning stove tonight & the heat it radiates throughout my home, making me feel like I live in a cabin. Love it!
We have some branches in the back part of the yard that I was going to give to my neighbor, about a month ago. But he decided he didn't want them. So today I spent a few hrs acting like a mountain woman sawing away at as many branches as I could...before the Ryobi batteries ran out of juice. Then Trin & I began breaking apart a pallet for kindling. Long story short, I have kindling & firewood now. Woo Hoo!

16. I'm thankful that I was able to see the fall colors this year in Tennessee.

17. I'm thankful that I am moving to a warmer climate. Have I mentioned I hate cold weather? Ya, well, I do! ;)

I'm thankful!

This month I've been so distracted, I've just begun to realize that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I also didn't keep a thankful list this year. So since this is Nov 15, I'll give you 15 things/people I'm thankful for.

1. I'm thankful for my mom & dad. They have shown me what true love is, whether it's in marriage, other relationships, or God's love!

2. I'm thankful for Jesus & the cost HE paid for me to be with Him in heaven. Thank you my Savior!

3. I'm thankful for the wonderful friends God has given to me here in Tennessee. I know these past 5 years have been amazing because all of you! And I will miss you!!!

4. I'm thankful for "the peace of God that surpasses all understanding". I've experienced that very peace in the most difficult times of my life.

5. I'm thankful for my wonderful husband. He's hard working & dedicated. He's a wonderful husband & father. Not only that but he loves the Lord. And his passion for God's word is addicting!

6. I'm thankful for God's grace poured out over Matt 13 years ago when he came home the "prodigal son. Matt had messed up bad. But God forgave him and so did his parents! It's a wonderful story!!

7. I'm thankful for my inlaws. They are 2 amazing people. My father inlaw is loud & obnoxious at times. But he's also passionate, a hard worker, he loves his family & showed Matt how to be a great man! My mom inlaw always has a word of encouragement for me just when I need it. She was my friend even before Matt & I started dating. Thank you Judy (now mom) for your friendship.

8. I'm thankful for the roof over my head. It may be hundreds of miles away from my husband and thousands of miles away from my extended family. But God has blessed us here in so many ways! And this has been a wonderful neighborhood to raise our kids in. I know God will give us just as great a neighborhood in Fl too.

9. I'm thankful for Matt's job and his employer. With so many lay-offs there are many without jobs, or without good paying jobs. I'm so thankful Matt not only was not laid-off but he's been promoted too! He works for a great company & has a really cool boss who took us to an awesome Columbian restaurant, called the Columbia Restaurant http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/ybor.asp, and gave me a beautiful boutique of flowers.

10. I'm thankful for this new adventure we're about to embark upon...soon.

11. I'm thankful for my sis Kathy. She was my first real sister I ever had. I always wanted a sister! I love you Kathy!

12. I'm thankful that we'll be closer to my sis so we can stay in touch & my girls will still be a part of her life. God is good! :)

13. I'm thankful for my brother. When I was a kid I would have never dreamed I would ever say that. When my brother got to be about college age we started hanging out a lot more. My bro & I became friends. Mom always said we would! Thanks Steve for letting me ride with you at your courier job & on your motorcycle. You're cool...I guess. hehe

14. I'm thankful for firewood. I don't have any right now because I sold all of mine. But I'm thankful that it exists! hehe It's kept me warm over 3 winters. I really wish I had some, just enough for the next 2-2 1/2 weeks...

15. I'm thankful for Renee. Not Renee the bunny. That's Eden's friend. No. I'm talking about my bestest of best friends in the whole wide world...of sports & entertainment! We've been buds since 1st grade. I love her to death. And though we don't talk much in between visits, it seems we just can pick right back up where we left off. Love you lady!!!

Well, that was good for me to do. I really have a lot to be thankful for. Sometimes I can't see it all because of the fog of what's going on in my life right now. So it's good to jot it all down so I can see it all clearly.

Enjoy!

This was a good day.

This was a good day. It was more like a peaceful day. I woke up & ate breakfast with my 2 favorite little girls. Then I taught my 6 yr old a thing or two about Math & stuff...like how to clean her own messes up. hehe We learned about God's love and forgiveness from Psalm 103...so amazing! Later in the day I had the radio on & Eden wanted to dance with me. So she came up to me and asked, "Play? Play?!" So we danced for a little bit...pretty much off & on the whole afternoon. I love the smile she gets while we twirl around really fast. Surprisingly I didn't get sick! Then we finished the day off with coloring, sticker-ing & singing songs. My girls love the "Higher Higher" song. Yes, Cast Your Burdens. And yes I do make my voice real high & then real low. hehe Then we picked up the rooms really quick before I tucked the girls in & said prayers. Now they're fast asleep & I think I'll go watch some tv...after I blog.

Oh, somewhere in the middle of all that was important I got the dishes & some painting done, made some important ph calls & sent important messages, cleaned a toilet & a sink, updated my priority To Do list, also I made lunch & an actual "real meal" for dinner.

Overall, it was a very peaceful day.

I don't know what tomorrow brings. I refuse to worry about it. Instead I will trust my God!

Thanks for reading my ramblings,
Katie
